No Practice Tonight (Tuesday, May 5th)
Sorry for not being more clear in my email earlier this week... my bad.
We will not be having practice tonight (Tuesday, May 5th).
We MAY have practice tomorrow (Wed., May 6th) evening depending on if it rains. If it doesn't rain, we will practice. If it does, we won't.
I am still waiting to hear if we are going to play our makeup game on Friday (May 8th) or not. I will let you know as soon as I hear.
Thanks,
Alan

Stingrays vs. Red Devils 3-21-09
We had a good effort by all the boys this past weekend, but we lost 8-0. That's okay, just means we have to work on some things harder. Remember, we're a new team and it will take some time for us to gel.
While we did have great effort, we had some issues with boys not passing and trying to keep the ball too long. That almost always results in loss of possession. We have to learn to pass the ball and work as a team. We also didn't talk much out there so no one knew when anyone was open. We also had a problem with kicking the ball to the center of the field right in front of our goal. All of the other team's goals came as a result of that.
On the plus side, we has great throw-ins, we shut down their corner kicks and we played with them for the first 15-20 minutes of the game before we kinda fell apart.
I hope everyone still had fun, because that's what it's about. I am looking forward to our team getting better each game and learning from the teams we play against.
Our next game is against the Cougars at 12:45. We are the home team, so we will be wearing the blue side of our jerseys no matter what the other team's colors are. Please be at the field 30 minutes before the game so we can warm up and work out last minute details.
This link will take you to my facebook link of photos Martha Dawn, Kameron's mom took of the game. You should NOT have to be a member of facebook to view these photos. Please let me know if you have trouble viewing them.
See ya at Monday practice at 5:30pm!

Wonderful Donation!
Hello Team-
I wanted to email you to let you know that Bernard's parents, Bernardo and Bonnie Duran have graciously donated 8 black practice jerseys for us to use during practices and in games that our uniforms match too closely the other team's uniforms.
Please take a moment to thank them by email (bduran@tedlyon.com) or when you see them.
There will no need for anyone to buy practice jerseys.
Also, we have practice tomorrow at 10am at the same place. We'll also be holding a 30 minute passing clinic after practice for those who want to stay.
Thanks!

Great Practice Tonight!
We had a great practice tonight and I am excited about our team. I think it's going to be a great season.
We'll be having Saturday practices at 10 am until the season starts - so try to be there if you can. Definitely be at the Thursday practices. Please let me know if your child will not be at Thursday practices at least a day ahead of time.
Some things for your boys to work on at home:
• Dribbling: keep the ball closes to them while dribbling and stay in control of the ball.
• Passing the ball: have him use the side of his foot (towards the toe) and make sure he looks up where he is passing the ball instead of at the ball
• Throw ins: We didn't work on these, but the ball is thrown over their head, both feet stay planted on the ground. The hands go on the sides of the ball with thumbs at the back to allow for push off.
• Stretching: have your son stretch everyday and do some jogging or running to get in shape. They will need to last at least 2 full quarters and some will be required to play 3 quarters. It's a lot of running and I don't want them getting tired out too quickly.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I always have my cell. 214-500-9219.
Thanks!

Uniform Colors
Though we have not looked at uniforms yet, it is safe to say that we'll use the blue, gray and black colors from the logo at the top of this blog. I have had a few parents ask me about colors as they were buying cleats, socks, etc.
One of our team moms, Maribel, D'Angelo's mother, is in charge of uniforms and she will be discussing them with you tomorrow at practice.
